Arsenal is reportedly interested in signing winger Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle.
The Frenchman has impressed many during his debut season after joining the Magpies last summer from French club Nice.
This season, Saint-Maximin has scored three goals and produced five assists in 22 appearances, three of which came in Newcastle’s 4-1 victory over Bournemouth last week.
According to French source Le10Sport, Arsenal is one of two clubs that is seriously interested in signing the 23-year-old in the upcoming transfer window. The other club believed to be interested in signing Saint-Maximin is Italian club Napoli.
The Serie A side are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking options in the transfer window and have also been strongly linked with Lille forward Victor Osimhen.
However, sources in Italy, including Football Italia, claim Osimhen is actually waiting for an official approach from either Arsenal or Manchester United. If the Gunners are to make a move for the Nigerian forward, it could clear the way for Napoli to sign to Saint-Maximin.
Meanwhile, the official report from Le10Sport also claims that both clubs have been in contact with the player’s entourage to discuss a potential summer move.
Arsenal returns to Premier League action on Tuesday when they host Leicester City while Newcastle travel to Manchester to face Manchester City on Wednesday.
