Arsenal interested in signing James Rodriguez who could be available for £22.6 million

Arsenal are interested in signing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid and a bid of £22.6 million could be sufficient to land the player, according to Marca.

James Rodriguez joined Real Madrid in a blockbuster deal in 2014 on the back of a memorable FIFA World Cup. Although he has scored 37 goals and provided 42 assists in 125 games for the club, he has failed to make the grade at Real Madrid and both parties are committed to securing his exit this summer.

The player has one year remaining on his deal and if he does not leave this summer, Real risk losing him for nothing next year. Club President, Florentino Perez is willing to sanction his sale for a cut price fee of £22.6 million. James spent a season on loan at Bayern Munich but his performances failed to convince the Bavarians to sign him permanently.

Last summer, there was strong interest from Atletico Madrid and it looked like a move was on the cards. Real Madrid decided against selling him to their bitter rivals at the last minute. This season, the Colombian has been a largely peripheral player at the club. He has scored one goal and provided two assists in 14 appearances across all competitions.

The 28 year old is said to be attracting interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton and Wolves. Some interest from Napoli and Juventus was reported earlier but both Italian clubs seem to have cooled their interest in the player in recent weeks.
