Arsenal reportedly submit £13.6 million offer for Joelson and Sporting may be forced to accept bid

Arsenal have submitted a £13.6 million offer for Joelson Fernandes and Sporting Lisbon may be forced to accept the bid as the player is refusing to sign a new deal at the club, according to Portuguese news channel TVI 24 via ZRAFC.

The Gunners are very interested in the 17 year old Sporting academy graduate who has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo. The player has a £41 million buyout clause but it is believed that the Portuguese club might be forced to accept a lower bid for the player.

Sporting have offered him a new contract which would increase his release clause but the player and his representatives have rejected the deal and it looks increasingly unlikely that the club and player will find an agreement.

Joelson Fernandes made his debut for Sporting Lisbon earlier this month. He has made a total of four appearances for the Portuguese club. His agent is Kia Joorabchian, a man with close ties to members of the Arsenal hierarchy. This will definitely help the Gunners in their pursuit to bring the promising young attacker to the Emirates this summer.

The North London side are reported to have a five year deal ready to offer to the player with a guarantee of first team football.
