Arsenal to submit concrete offer for Joelson in coming days

Arsenal are expected to submit a concrete offer for Sporting Lisbon’s Joelson Fernandes in the coming days, according to Portuguese media outlet A Bola. 

The Gunners are said to be extremely interested in signing the 17 year old and are willing to trigger his £41 million buyout clause. It is being reported that they have already prepared a five year contract for the player with a guarantee of first team football. Arsenal believe Joelson has the potential to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo and want to conclude a deal for him very soon. 

Joelson Fernandes is the latest product of the famed Sporting Lisbon academy which has produced players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Nani and Ricardo Quaresma in the past. He made his debut for the first team earlier this month against Gil Vicente FC. The highly rated attacker has made four appearances for the Portuguese club.

The player has been offered a new contract by Sporting which would see his buyout clause increase significantly. His father, Eusebio Mango Fernandes, and agent, Kia Joorabchian, have been reluctant to agree to a new deal that would see Joelson’s release clause increase so dramatically. Arsenal are hoping that their close ties with Joorabchian will help them sign Joelson Fernandes.
