Arsenal hope to announce the signing of Willian in the coming days

Willian has decided to move to Arsenal and the Gunners hope to announce his arrival in the coming days, according to Bruno Vicari of ESPN Brazil

The Brazilian rejected Chelsea’s latest two year contract offer because he wants a three year deal. Arsenal have presented him with a three year contract and this seems to have been a key factor in sealing the deal. It is believed that the 31 year old will not be involved in Chelsea’s upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

Kia Joorabchian, his agent, has close ties with members of the Arsenal hierarchy including head of football Raul Sanllehi and technical director Edu Gaspar. This has worked to the advantage of the North London club.

The player and his family are believed to be very happy with life in London and it has been reported for a long time that Willian’s preference was to stay in the capital. He joined the Blues in 2013. He has scored 63 goals and provided 62 assists in 339 appearances for Chelsea. This season, he scored eleven goals and provided nine assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

Manchester United and Manchester City are believed to have contacted the player’s representatives in recent days in the hope of signing the Brazilian but Arsenal’s long term contract offer helped them win the race for his signature.
