Willian inclined to accept Arsenal’s impending contract offer due to Arteta and Edu

Willian is inclined to accept Arsenal’s impending contract offer and finds the prospect of working with Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar very appealing, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic

The Gunners are keen to bring the 31 year old to the Emirates and are prepared to offer him a three year contract. The Brazilian rejected Chelsea’s latest two year contract extension as he is keen on a three year deal.

Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Inter Miami are believed to have expressed an interest in signing the player. Willian’s list of options have now been condensed down to two and Arsenal are one of the clubs still in for him. The other club’s identity is not clear at this point.

Mikel Arteta has asked for the Brazilian to be signed. The player has been targeted by Arsenal for quite some time and the Gunners head coach sees him as an ideal signing.

The 31 year old is not signing for the North London club because of the money being on offer. He has received more lucrative contracts from other clubs but is keen on signing for Arsenal to reunite with Edu Gaspar who he knows from his time with the Brazilian national team. What appeals to Willian the most, however, is the opportunity to work with Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal hope he will be able to help the younger players at the club develop and are also keen for him to help promote a winning mentality and culture that the Gunners are trying to build.
