Arsenal will not sign Coutinho on ‘any kind of deal’

Arsenal insist they will not sign Coutinho on any kind of deal because they are close to sealing a move for Willian, according to Matt Law of the Telegraph.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with both Willian and Coutinho and it was understood that they were pursuing moves for both players. The Telegraph even reported the same earlier today but Arsenal reached out to them to clarify that they would not be signing Coutinho.

Barcelona are desperate to move the Brazilian on and are even open to a loan for the player. The Spanish giants have reportedly been pushing for a deal that would see the 28 year old move to Arsenal on loan.

The North London club are in the market for a winger, a central midfielder and a centre back this summer. They are close to sealing a deal to bring Willian to the Emirates and seem to be the favourites to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magelhaes for £27 million.

Thomas Partey remains the club’s primary transfer target and although the Gunners have made it clear that they will not trigger his £45 million release clause, they remain hopeful about bringing the Ghanaian midfielder to North London this summer. In the event that they are unable to sign him, they view Porto’s Danilo Pereira as a viable alternative.
