‘Decisive days ahead’ as Arsenal look to sign Coutinho on loan
|Arsenal are interested in signing Philippe Coutinho and the next few days will be decisive, according to Spanish media outlet Sport.
Barcelona are prioritising a deal to get Coutinho’s wages off their books for the 2020/21 season. They are optimistic about finding an agreement with the Gunners who are believed to love the player. Talks have begun and are believed to be going well but Barcelona are still open to receiving offers for the Brazilian from other clubs.
Kia Joorabchian, the player’s agent, is currently working on finalising Willian’s transfer to Arsenal but it is understood that efforts to bring Coutinho to the Emirates will intensify once the Chelsea attacker’s move to North London is complete.
The Blaugrana were hoping to sell the 28 year old this summer but are open to a loan deal for the Brazilian. According to recent reports, they will expect a loan fee of around £9 million in addition to the Gunners covering half of Coutinho’s £240,000 a week wages. A deal to take the player to North London will cost Arsenal approximately £15 million.
Coutinho was loaned out to Bayern Munich for the 2019/20 season. The German champions had the option to turn his loan into a permanent move but decided against it. He has scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 34 games across all competitions for the Bavarian side. He will remain with Bayern until the end of their Champions League campaign.
Bringing Coutinho (in exchange with Guendouzi), if he accepts a pay cut, will be the best solution!
