Arsenal are close to securing the signing of Willian on a free transfer with only some details lacking, according to Gustavo Hofman of ESPN Brazil.
Willian is expected to sign a three year contract with the Gunners and will stand to make £100,000 a week. He received more lucrative offers from Barcelona and Inter Miami but was drawn to the project in North London as well as the prospect of working with Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar.
The Brazilian’s Chelsea career has effectively ended today as the Blues completed their season with a 4-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie, losing 7-1 on aggregate. Willian chose against extending his stay at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea were only willing to offer him a two year deal.
The Gunners will seal the signing of Willian by the end of next week, according to Fred Caldeira of Brazilian television channel Esporte Interativo.
The 31 year old joined Chelsea in 2013 and won two Premier Leagues titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and a Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge. Willian has scored 63 goals and provided 62 assists in 339 appearances for Chelsea. This season, he scored eleven goals and provided nine assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
