Rumours linking Coutinho with a move to Arsenal have ‘no substance at all’
|Rumours linking Philippe Coutinho with a move to Arsenal have no substance at all, according to Sique Rodriguez of Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
Barcelona are desperate to move Coutinho on as they look to raise funds to recruit their primary transfer targets. They would prefer to sell him but are also open to a loan deal. They have reportedly offered the Brazilian to a number of clubs and this includes Arsenal.
Many in the media said that the Gunners were keen on signing the 28 year old on loan and that the two clubs were in talks about a potential deal. It had even been reported that the player’s representatives met with Arsenal officials at London Colney yesterday.
A few days ago, Matt Law of the Telegraph wrote a piece about how the North London club were negotiating moves for Willian and Coutinho. He later came out and clarified that the Gunners had made it clear that they were not pursuing a deal for the Barcelona player. It was suggested that Arsenal would not sign Coutinho if they were able to seal a deal to bring Willian to the Emirates.
The reports linking the Brazilian with a move to Arsenal have failed to die down. Arsenal are keen on adding creativity to the side and a move for Coutinho seems logical. A deal to bring him to the Emirates cannot be ruled out but from the latest reports, it seems like the Gunners are not currently in the mix for the 28 year old.
