Partey will command wages in excess of £200,000 a week

Thomas Partey will command wages in excess of £200,000 a week, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic

The Ghanaian midfielder is Arsenal’s top transfer target this summer. The Gunners have suggested swap deals involving the likes of Alexander Lacazette and Matteo Guendouzi for Partey but Atletico have rejected these proposals. The Spanish club have made it very clear that they will only allow the 27 year old to leave if his £45 million buyout clause is triggered.

Arsenal have been interested in Partey for a number of years. This transfer has less to do with whether Partey is interested in a move to Arsenal or not and more to do with the North London club’s ability to get a deal over the line for the player.

This transfer will be a challenging one to pull off for Arsenal. To sign the Ghanaian midfielder, the North London club will have to pay the player’s release clause in one go as is par for the course in Spain and an additional few million in taxes. On top of that, Partey will command a salary in excess of £200,000 a week.

Gabriel Magalhaes is a player that has been linked with a move to North London in the past few weeks. Arsenal’s interest in the player is credible. He has been extensively scouted by the club and is highly rated in North London. The Lille defender is a player that would add quality to Arteta’s options at centre back. Napoli, Everton and Manchester United are also believed to be interested in signing the Brazilian.

A deal for Gabriel will be challenging due to his transfer fee and the abundance of competition for the 23 year old’s signature. Arsenal are sure to be an attractive proposition for the young defender.

Coutinho has been offered to the Gunners in the past and it is very likely that Barcelona have alerted Arsenal to the fact that he is available again this summer. Much can change in what is expected to be a crazy transfer window but at the moment, the North London club are not pursuing a deal for the Brazilian.
