Trabzonspor in advanced negotiations with Arsenal to seal Elneny loan deal
|Turkish side Trabzonspor are in advanced negotiations with Arsenal to sign Elneny on a season-long loan with a purchase option, according to Turkish media outlet Turkish Football.
Elneny spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Besiktas. He scored one goal and provided four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. Earlier in the year, Besiktas were keen on extending his loan at the club for an additional year and the player was open to that idea. A subsequent wage dispute between Elneny and the Turkish club derailed those plans and the on-loan Arsenal midfielder made the decision to shelve talks with Besiktas until his salary was paid in full.
The former FC Basel midfielder is well settled in Turkey and would be open to playing for Trabzonspor next season if the Turkish club and Arsenal are able to find an agreement. The club would be open to signing him on loan with an option to purchase the player at the end of the season. Elneny has two years remaining on his Arsenal contract.
Arsenal signed Elneny in January 2016. In his three years at the club, he scored two goals and provided eight assists in 89 appearances. The Egyptian midfielder is not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans and a loan deal for the player is expected to be sealed in the near future.
