Arsenal have won the race to sign Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Head coach Mikel Arteta has been keen on signing a central defender this summer and it looks like he is on the verge of getting exactly what he wants. The Gunners are all set to welcome the Brazilian defender, valued at £22 million, to the Emirates in the coming days.
The North London club conceded 48 goals in the league last season and had the second worst defensive record among the top eight Premier League sides. Their inconsistencies at the back have been criticised on a regular basis and it has been clear that they are in need of better defenders.
Gabriel is one of the most exciting young centre backs in world football. The 22 year old was an integral part of a Lille side that finished fourth in the French league last season. They had the fourth best defensive record in the country. The Brazilian made 34 appearances in all competitions for the French club in the 2019/20 campaign.
In addition to Arsenal, Napoli, Manchester United and Everton are said to have been interested in signing the player. Lille have accepted bids from three different clubs for the Brazilian defender, according to Sky Sports. Those three clubs are believed to be Arsenal, Napoli and Everton. The French side allowed Gabriel to choose his next club. It looks like the player has made his decision and is all set to sign for Arsenal.

Hold your horses there my old son.Its also being reported that Napoli who already apparently have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to sign Gabriel have been given a further 2 was to stump up the cash to sign him.?why? Because Napoli won’t have the fish until they offload Koulibaly to either citeh or Manure for silly money which will then purchase Gabriel.There appears to be some truth in this otherwise why the continual delays…..
