Lille defender Jose Fonte says Gabriel has been asking about the Premier League
Lille defender Jose Fonte has said that his teammate and Arsenal target Gabriel Magalhaes has been asking about the Premier League, according to Talksport.
Fonte spent ten years playing in England for Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Ham. He joined Lille in 2018 and has been Gabriel’s partner in central defence for some time. The experienced Portuguese centre back is said to have helped the 22 year old establish himself in the team and improve his game.
The former Southampton defender has said that Gabriel has been asking him questions about the Premier League and some English clubs in particular, as he nears a decision on his next club.
Gabriel has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and the Gunners have had a bid for the player accepted by Lille. The French club have also accepted offers for the Brazilian defender from Napoli and Everton.
Everton were believed to be the early favourites for the central defender’s signature but the Premier League club have dropped out of the race and the player will choose either Arsenal or Napoli as his next club.
The Italian club have made a last ditch attempt to convince the 22 year old to pick them by offering him a ‘big salary deal’. The player is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League but he and his representatives are seriously considering Napoli’s new offer.
Napoli are believed to be keen on selling Kalidou Koulibaly before signing Gabriel. Manchester City are interested in the Senegalese central defender but it remains to be seen if the Italian club will be able to reach an agreement with the Citizens in the near future.
