PSG and Manchester United contact Gabriel’s representatives, Arsenal still favourites

Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United have contacted Gabriel’s representatives today, according to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports.

Arsenal are the favourites in the race for his signature and have agreed to pay £27 million including bonuses to Lille for his services. Napoli are still attempting to lure the player to Italy with an increased offer at the last minute.

The Gunners and Gabriel’s representatives had initially been apart on negotiations over the player’s expected salary but made a breakthrough and are believed to be on the verge of sealing the deal, according to the Independent

Gabriel would like to make a final decision on his next club within the next 48 hours, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sports Italy. The player’s future has been a long running saga involving Arsenal, Napoli and Everton who have all had bids for the player accepted by Lille. Everton were thought to be the early favourites but have since dropped out of the race. Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United have made their interest known and it remains to be seen if this will impact the player’s decision.

Gerard Lopez, the Lille President, recently said that the player had shortlisted Arsenal and Napoli as his final two options and would make a decision in the coming days, in an interview with Talksport.

The North London club remain confident about sealing a deal to bring Gabriel to the Emirates.
