AC Milan interested in signing Ceballos on loan
|AC Milan are interested in signing Dani Ceballos on loan, according to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph.
Arsenal are very keen on bringing the Spaniard back to the Emirates for another season but the Italian side are hoping to take advantage of changes behind the scenes at the North London club and sign Ceballos on loan.
The former Betis midfielder spent last season on loan at Arsenal and Raul Sanllehi, the former head of football, was in discussions with Real Madrid to extend the player’s loan for another year before his sudden exit from the club.
Vinai Venkatesham, the Chief Executive of Arsenal, is now leading negotiations. Milan are hoping that this switch in the person representing Arsenal in talks with Real will provide them with an opportunity to beat Arsenal to the Spaniard’s signature and help them strengthen their team.
The Gunners are determined to get a deal for the 23 year old over the line as he is a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s plans. He was one of Arsenal’s standout players in the closing stages of the season and formed an effective midfield pivot with Granit Xhaka. Arsenal are believed to be confident that Sanllehi’s departure will not affect their plans in the transfer window and Ceballos is certainly a big part of their plans.
The North London club are also believed to be interested in signing Felipe Anderson from West Ham on loan. Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s technical director, knows the player from his time as the general coordinator of the Brazilian national team. Lazio, Anderson’s former club, are also keen on signing him on loan but West Ham will only let the 27 year old leave for a fee.
