Jordi Osei-Tutu closing in on season long loan move to Cardiff City

Jordi Osei-Tutu is closing in on a season long loan move to Cardiff City, according to Welsh media outlet WalesOnline

The 21 year old is believed to have travelled to Cardiff on Tuesday and undergone a medical ahead of the switch. Osei-Tutu spent the 2019/20 season on loan at German second division side VfL Bochum and was particularly impressive in the second half of the season. He is a right back but excelled in Germany when played as a right winger. He scored five goals and provided three assists in 22 appearances for the German club.

Cardiff City have been keen on signing a right back this summer and look to have found their man. Dion Sanderson, their most recent right back who was on loan from Wolves, was also an attacking full back and it appears that they view Osei-Tutu’s attacking potential as a key reason to bring him to the club. The Welsh side finished fifth in the Championship last season.

Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal to sell Ainsley Maitland Niles to Wolves and there is also talk of Hector Bellerin being offered to Paris Saint Germain. Osei-Tutu’s versatility and ability to play at right back could have provided Arteta with an additional option in the senior side. It, however, looks like the Gunners would like him to further develop his game on loan for another year before integrating him into Arsenal’s first team.
