Leeds United interested in signing Chambers

Leeds United are interested in signing Calum Chambers, according to British media outlet TeamTalk

Chambers is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury and is hoping to be back in training at the earliest possible date before the end of the calendar year. Arsenal recently completed the permanent signing of Pablo Mari and are on the verge of sealing the transfer of Gabriel from Lille in a deal worth £27 million. The Gunners are open to selling the Chambers as he is not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Arsenal would prefer to sell the former Southampton defender rather than send him out on loan. They will sanction his sale if they receive an offer in excess of £12 million. The player still hopes to work his way back into the national team, having made three appearances for England in 2014. He is aware that he will have to play regularly to catch Gareth Southgate’s eye and this is unlikely to happen at Arsenal.

Fulham are also interested in signing Chambers. He spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Craven Cottage and was voted Fulham’s player of the season. Both Fulham and Leeds have held talks with Arsenal regarding a move for the player.

Leeds United’s sporting director, Victor Orta, was a senior member of the recruitment department at Middlesborough when the club signed Chambers on loan in the 2016/17 season. He has held talks with Chambers about making the move up north and is also interested in signing Rob Holding from Arsenal this summer.

Callum Chambers has attracted interest from sides in France and Germany but he is believed to prefer a move to another Premier League club.
