Newcastle interested in signing Holding on loan
|Newcastle United are interested in signing Rob Holding on loan this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Holding has played a bit part role at Arsenal since recovering from his cruciate ligament injury. He made 18 appearances in all competitions for the North London side last season and just eight appearances in the Premier League. With Arsenal set to sign Gabriel from Lille for £27 million, the English central defender is likely to get even less game time with the Gunners next season. Arsenal will reportedly listen to offers for the former Bolton defender.
Steve Bruce is looking to add a central defender to his Newcastle side but will face competition for Holding’s signature from Leeds United. Marcelo Bielsa is keen on strengthening his options in defence after failing to sign Ben White, who spent last season on loan at Leeds, and the 24 year old has emerged as one of the club’s main targets.
The Englishman signed for Arsenal from Bolton Wanderers in 2016 for £2 million. Since joining the Gunners, he has made 78 appearances in all competitions and been a part of two FA Cup winning sides.
The North London club are expecting a number of departures this summer as they look to raise funds for further incomings.
