Sam Greenwood will sign for Leeds United today, according to Sky Sports journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The 18 year old Arsenal player will put pen to paper on a three year deal with the newly promoted Premier League sign. Leeds will pay the Gunners an initial fee of £1.5 million which could rise to £3 million based on bonuses.
He joined Arsenal from Sunderland in 2018 and has been hugely impressive for the Under 18 side. He has scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 54 appearances for the Under 18s. He is a striker but is also capable of playing out wide and in the number 10 position. He has represented England at the Under 18 level.
The former Sunderland academy player made five appearances for Arsenal’s Under 23 side last season and scored a goal against Derby County. He appeared to be all set to become a regular fixture in Steve Bould’s team.
Leeds United are interested in signing players who are at the Under 23 level but are equipped to break into the first team. Greenwood definitely falls into this category and is sure to have been attracted by the possibility of potentially playing for the first team of a Premier League side next season.
