Fiorentina keen on Torreira with Arsenal open to selling him

Fiorentina are very keen on signing Lucas Torreira this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sports Italy

The 24 year old is open to a move back to Italy. He is keen on regular first team football and knows that if he does not play week in week out, his place in the Uruguay national team will be under threat. Torreira looks unlikely to be a guaranteed starter at Arsenal and the Gunners will listen to offers for him this summer.

It is understood that Fiorentina have registered their interest in the player and are waiting for a positive response from Arsenal and Torreira before attempting to seal a transfer. It is unclear whether they want to sign him on loan or permanently. Arsenal, however, need to raise funds for incomings and so will be inclined to sell Torreira or send him on loan to Fiorentina with an obligation to buy him next summer.

The North London club paid £26 million for the player and would hope to at least recoup the money they paid to secure his services. In addition to Fiorentina, the former Sampdoria midfielder has been linked with AC Milan, Torino and Atletico Madrid.

Torreira has also been linked with a move to AS Roma in a player swap deal that would see the Uruguay international head to the Stadio Olimpico and Amadou Diawara arrive at the Emirates, according to Corriere dello Sport. There is nothing concrete in the Torreira-Diawara swap at the moment, according to John Solano of Roma Press.
