Aouar reportedly not a Manchester City target this summer

Houssem Aouar is not a Manchester City target this summer, according to Sam Lee, the Manchester City correspondent for The Athletic.
The Lyon academy graduate is believed to want a move to the Premier League this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Arsenal are interested in signing the 22 year old and have already offered Guendouzi plus cash for the player. They are the only side to make a concrete bid for Aouar so far. Lyon appear to be uninterested in that offer but Arsenal’s technical director, Edu Gaspar, is scheduled to hold further talks with Juninho, his counterpart at Lyon, in the coming weeks.

Manchester City were believed to be interested in signing Aouar and within the Premier League at least, seemed to be Arsenal’s chief competitors in the race for his signature. It looks like they are not pursuing the gifted French midfielder’s signature at the moment. Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to be studying their options ahead of what looks like a transfer saga involving Lionel Messi, Barcelona and Manchester City.

Lyon want to sell Aouar this summer but would like to receive £53.5 million for his services. The player’s agent has said that he will take his time before making a decision on his next club. The 22 year old will wait to see which clubs make suitable offers for him and make a decision in September.
