Thomas Partey has told clubs interested in signing him that he will either be at Arsenal or Atletico Madrid next season, according to French media outlet CulturePSG.
The Ghanaian midfielder is understood to be very selective about where he would like to play his football. He is Arsenal’s primary transfer target this summer and according to media speculation, open to a move to the Emirates. He has a buyout clause of £45 million.
Arsenal have offered Atletico Madrid cash in addition to one of a number of their players including Matteo Guendouzi. The Spanish giants have rejected all offers and insist they will not allow Partey to leave unless his release clause is triggered. The Madrid based side see the Ghana international as a key member of their squad and do not want to lose him unless they are contractually obliged to allow him to leave the club.
The Rojiblancos offered Partey a new contract earlier in the season which would provide him with a pay rise and see his release clause increased significantly. The 27 year old has not signed the contract so far but it remains on the table. It is understood that if the Gunners do not make a £45 million bid for the player, he will remain at Atletico Madrid for the upcoming season. Simeone admires him and would be loath to lose him this summer.
Inter Milan are believed to be interested in signing the midfielder but it looks like they will struggle to lure him to Italy in the current transfer window as he has narrowed down his options to either Arsenal or Atletico Madrid.
