Arsenal to play QPR in a behind closed doors friendly later today
|Arsenal are scheduled to take on Queens Park Rangers in a behind closed doors friendly later today, according to Arsenal Fixture News. The team will be made up of a combination of first team and reserve players.
The Gunners will play two or three friendlies behind closed doors ahead of the first game of the new Premier League season away to Fulham, according to Charles Watts of Goal.
Willian, Alexander Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe returned to London Colney yesterday as Mikel Arteta’s squad begins coming together again with less than two weeks to go before the start of the Premier League. Mesut Ozil, who is attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, also reported back to Colney yesterday.
Gabriel, who will be officially presented as an Arsenal player shortly, is believed to have been allowed on site for the squad’s coronavirus testing. The Brazilian defender is set to join the Gunners from Lille for £27 million.
Nine players from Arsenal’s first team have reported for international duty this week and will return to North London by the end of next week. This will give Arteta limited time to work with his entire squad ahead of the game at Craven Cottage on September 12th.
