Lille president says rumoured Arsenal target Soumare will leave the club

Lille president, Gerard Romero, has said that the French side have received offers for  rumoured Arsenal target Boubakary Soumare and he will leave the club, according to Get French Football News.

Romero has said that the club will talk in the coming days to sort out the player’s future. Soumare wants to play regularly but has not been a first team regular for Lille since February.

The French club’s president said they have received considerable offers for the player in the past but Soumare rejected the opportunity to join the clubs that made those bids. Newcastle United are believed to have tried to sign the Lille midfielder in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are rumoured to be among the clubs that are interested in signing the 21 year old. The Gunners have been following the player for a long time and like his profile.

Soumare is a Paris Saint Germain academy graduate. He decided to leave the French champions in 2017 and was courted by a host of clubs including Juventus but decided to sign for Lille. Since joining the French side, he has made 70 appearances. He made 30 appearances in all competitions last season.

He is a technically gifted, strong central midfielder who is good at retrieving the ball. He is expected to receive a call up to the French national team in the near future. Soumare has represented France from the Under 16 level all the way through to the Under 21 level.
