Lyon looking to sell Aouar for upwards of £44.4 million this summer
|Lyon are looking to sell Arsenal target Houssem Aouar for upwards of £44.4 million this summer, according to Jonathan Johnson of Eurosport in an interview with Sky Sports.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Aouar and are believed to be the only club to have made a concrete offer for the player so far. The Gunners offered cash in addition to Matteo Guendouzi for the Frenchman. That bid did not convince Lyon to part with their prized asset but Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s technical director, is expected to hold further talks with Juninho, his counterpart at Lyon, in the coming weeks.
Aouar is a Lyon academy graduate. He joined the French club’s academy at the age of 11 and made his debut for the senior side in 2017. The French midfielder has scored 24 goals and provided 27 assists in 137 games for Lyon.
The 22 year old played a big part in Lyon’s run to the Champions League semi final last season and that has caused his valuation to increase. He scored nine goals and provided ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions in the 2019/20 campaign. Big clubs might struggle to sign the technically gifted midfielder in the current transfer window due to the cost of getting this deal over the line.
