PSG reportedly enter the race to sign Partey, Atletico think he will stay

Paris Saint Germain have entered the race to sign Thomas Partey this summer, according to ESPN.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly yet to receive an offer for the Arsenal target in the current transfer window. The Ghanaian midfielder has a £45 million buyout clause and the Spanish giants have made it abundantly clear that they will not part with the 27 year old unless Arsenal or any other interested club triggers his release clause.

It now looks like the French champions could consider spending £45 million to take the player to the Parc des Princes

Arsenal view Partey as their primary transfer target but need to move existing members of their squad on before attempting to bring him to the Emirates.

It will be very difficult for Arsenal to sign Partey this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano in an interview with AFTV. Interest from the Gunners made it difficult for Atletico to find an agreement with Partey to extend his contract but the Madrid based side are already planning to restart talks with the 27 year old once the transfer window closes. This is the clearest indication that the club believe the player will be a member of the Atletico squad on October 6th.

ESPN is contradicting what other members of the media have reported which is that the Gunners had offered cash in addition to one of a number of their players for the Ghana international but failed to sway the Rojiblancos.

Hector Bellerin has been linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain and if that transfer were to materialise, the North London club would generate a significant amount of money which would bring them closer to being able to sign the Atletico midfielder.

Alexander Lacazette is another player who has been linked with a move away from North London. He has two years remaining on his current deal and if Arsenal were to receive a suitable bid for his services, they could be tempted to cash in on the Frenchman to go after targets like Partey.

The Gunners will also listen to offers for Guendouzi, Torreira, Holding, Mustafi, Sokratis, Elneny and Kolasinac. They hope to raise sufficient funds in the next few weeks so that they can focus on signing their primary transfer target.

They will have to act fast to beat clubs like PSG to the signing of Thomas Partey. It will involve difficult decisions but the end result could be worth it.
