Arsenal lost 3-2 to Aston Villa in a behind closed doors friendly at the Emirates earlier today.
The Gunners put out a mixture of first team and reserve players as they looked to ramp up preparations ahead of the new season. Head coach Mikel Arteta was without a number of players due to the international break.
Aubameyang scored twice including one from the penalty spot. Mesut Ozil, Willian, William Saliba and Dani Ceballos all featured in the game against Villa.
The Midlands side took the lead in the first half via a Douglas Luiz goal. Aubameyang equalised for Arsenal before half time. Jacob Ramsey put Villa ahead in the second half before the Gabonese striker brought Arsenal level again by scoring from the penalty spot. Jacob Ramsey scored his second goal of the game soon after and Aston Villa saw out the rest of the game.
This is Arsenal’s third preseason game after they earned wins against MK Dons and Queens Park Rangers. They also faced Liverpool in the Community Shield last week which they won on penalties after the game ended 1-1.
Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to play another behind closed doors friendly ahead of their first Premier League game of the season against Fulham at Craven Cottage on September 12th.
