Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on loan, according to Simon Collings of the Evening Standard.
Aston Villa have made a second bid for Emiliano Martinez that is substantially closer to Arsenal’s £20 million valuation of the player than the Midlands club’s initial £10 million offer.
The Gunners are believed to be intent on signing a replacement before allowing the Argentine to leave the club. The North London side’s top target to replace Martinez is Brentford’s David Raya. The Championship side’s shot stopper is understood to be keen on a move to North London but his club insist that he is not for sale.
Alphonse Areola spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Real Madrid and has since returned to Paris Saint Germain. He will be sent out on loan for the upcoming campaign and is keen on a move to the Premier League. Fulham are the favourites for his signature but the goalkeeper has also been offered to Arsenal.
The 27 year old would be an affordable short term option for the Gunners. It is unclear whether Arteta and Edu are interested in bringing the Frenchman to the Emirates this summer.
He made nine appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions last season. Areola is a PSG academy graduate and made his debut for the French champions in 2013. He has made 107 appearances for last season’s Champions League finalists.
