David Raya wants to move to Arsenal

Brentford goalkeeper David Raya wants to move to Arsenal and his agent has said they ‘will do what is necessary’ if the Championship club continue to insist he is not for sale, according to Spanish media outlet Sport.

Arsenal could sell Emiliano Martinez this summer and want to sign a goalkeeper to replace him in the squad. Head coach Mikel Arteta has identified Raya as his top target. The Spaniard kept the most number of clean sheets in the Championship last season and is a highly rated goalkeeper.

Inaki Cana, the North London side’s goalkeeping coach who was previously employed by Brentford, is a fan of the player and has recommended that Arsenal sign him. Cana played a key role in bringing the Spanish goalkeeper to Brentford last summer.

The Gunners believe Raya has the quality required to be successful in the Premier League. Brentford do not want to sell the player in the current window and feel they are in a strong position as Raya has three years remaining on his current deal.

The 24 year old is keen on a move to North London and is prepared to submit a transfer request to secure a transfer to Arsenal.

Raya joined Blackburn Rovers in 2012 and has been in England ever since. He made 108 appearances for the club before moving to Brentford last summer. Last season, he made 49 appearances for the Bees.
