Houssem Aouar is Arsenal’s top target and the player wants to join the Gunners, according to Fabrizio Romano. Arsenal have spoken with his agents many times but personal terms are yet to be agreed.
The North London club offered Guendouzi in addition to cash for the 22 year old but that proposal was rejected by Lyon. Arsenal are yet to make a second bid for the player but are believed to be preparing an offer in excess of £35.6 million, according to French media outlet Telefoot Chaine. Lyon want £53.5 million for their star midfielder.
The Gunners are likely to make a bid for Aouar once Lucas Torreira, who has been heavily linked with a move to Torino, leaves the club, according to Julien Laurens of ESPN on the Gab and Juls podcast.

The funds generated from the sale of both Torreira and Emiliano Martinez could be used by the Gunners as they attempt to find an agreement with Lyon to sign the French midfielder.

Aouar is a Lyon academy graduate. He joined the French club’s academy at the age of 11 and made his debut for the senior side in 2017. He has scored 24 goals and provided 27 assists in 139 games for Lyon.
The 22 year old was a shining light in Lyon’s run to the Champions League semi final last season. He scored nine goals and provided ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions in the 2019/20 campaign.
