Lyon President doesn’t think Arsenal will sign Aouar this summer
|Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has said he doesn’t think Arsenal will sign Houssem Aouar this summer, according to Chris Wheatley of Gooner Talk. The French side are yet to receive an offer from the Gunners and Aulas believes they either don’t want to sign the Lyon star or can’t afford his price tag.
The North London side are keen on rebuilding their midfield this summer and see Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey as their top transfer targets. Lucas Torreira looks likely to return to Italy and the club are keen on moving Matteo Guendouzi on in this transfer window.
Arsenal will need to spend £53.5 million to sign Aouar this summer. They will have to sell many of their players to be able to finance a deal to bring the 22 year old to the Emirates. The club will listen to offers for Sead Kolasinac, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis this summer.
Aouar is a Lyon academy graduate. He joined the French club’s academy at the age of 11 and made his debut for the senior side in 2017. The French midfielder has scored 24 goals and provided 27 assists in 139 games for Lyon.
He was a shining light in Lyon’s run to the Champions League semi final last season. He scored nine goals and provided ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions in the 2019/20 campaign.
