Bayer Leverkusen edge closer to signing Kolasinac for £9 million

Bayer Leverkusen are closing in on the signing of Sead Kolasinac from Arsenal for £9 million, according to German media outlet Sport Bild

The 27 year old is unlikely to get significant game time at Arsenal this season. Kieran Tierney is the first choice left back and so opportunities will be limited.

On certain occasions in the previous campaign, Kolasinac was utilised on the left side of a back three but with the signing of Gabriel and the arrival of William Saliba, he is unlikely to play too much in this position. The Gunners want to move certain members of their squad on and will listen to offers for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.

The German club have money to spend as a result of the departures of Kai Havertz to Chelsea and Kevin Volland to Monaco. They want to use some of these funds to strengthen their team and are keen on signing Kolasinac.

The former Schalke defender is close to agreeing personal terms with Leverkusen. Kolasinac signed for Arsenal on a free transfer and so has high wages in excess of £8 million per year. The German club plan on matching his salary but spreading it over an extended period by handing him a longer contract.

They would like to sell one of their existing defenders before signing Kolasinac. Wendell and Jonathan Tah are the players who they are considering moving on.
