Smith Rowe likely to remain at Arsenal, Nelson to go out on loan

Emile Smith Rowe is likely to remain at Arsenal this season while Reiss Nelson looks set to go out on loan, according to James Benge of Football London.

Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Smith Rowe and believes the best place for him to continue his development is at Arsenal under his tutelage. The young Englishman is currently recovering from a shoulder injury and is expected to return to training soon. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Huddersfield Town and earned rave reviews. Arsenal believe he can play as a number 8 or number 10.

Arteta wants to sign at least one more midfielder before the end of the transfer window and if they sign Houssem Aouar, he is a player who can play in both the positions that Smith Rowe is capable of playing in.

If this were to significantly affect the amount of game time the 20 year old could get in North London this season, the Gunners could decide to send him out on loan. Fulham and Southampton are both interested in him. As things stand though, it looks like he is set to stay at the Emirates.

Nelson wanted to stay at Arsenal and fight for a place in the first team earlier in the window. He was keen on proving his worth to manager Mikel Arteta but has grown frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities so far this season.

It looks like he is unlikely to get significant game time at Arsenal due to the number of options in attack and so the Gunners and his representatives are working hard on securing a loan move for the player. Crystal Palace, Brighton and Burnley are believed to be interested in securing his services for the 2020/21 campaign.

Honestly, I think Nelson should stay and Pepe should be loaned out this season, so far this season Nelson has outperformed Pepe.
