Arsenal have signed youngsters Omar Rekik of Hertha Berlin and Nikolaj Duus Moller of Malmo, according to Chris Wheatley of Gooner Talk as per Rik Elfrink of Dutch media outlet Sportwereld and Johan Flinck of Swedish media outlet Sportbladet.
Rekik is an 18 year old central defender who is a member of the Hertha Berlin academy. The Dutchman currently plays for Hertha II in the Regionalliga Nordost which is the fourth division of German football. This season, he has scored one goal in six appearances for Hertha’s second team.
His older brother, Karim Rekik, is a central defender who currently plays for Hertha Berlin. He joined Manchester City in 2011 but made just three appearances for the Citizens over four years before leaving the club. His younger brother Omar will be hoping to have a more successful stay in England.
The Gunners showed late interest in the player and are believed to have secured his signing for £900,000.
The North London side have also signed Moller, an 18 year old striker, from Swedish side Malmo for around £400,000. Moller has signed a four year contract with the Gunners and the club has an option to extend his contract by a further year, according to Arseblog.
He spent 18 months in Italy at Bologna before deciding to return to Malmo to break into their first team in January. He didn’t manage to do that but his talent warranted a move to Arsenal.
Both Rekik and Moller are expected to link up with Arsenal’s Under-23 team.
