Saliba could move to a Championship club on loan

William Saliba could move to a Championship club on loan, according to John Cross of the Mirror.

The Frenchman was on the verge of returning to Saint-Etienne on loan but the transfer collapsed due to time constraints. Saint Etienne have pointed the finger of blame in Arsenal’s direction but the Gunners believe they did everything required to ensure the move went ahead well before the deadline, according to Sky Sports.

They feel that as the receiving club, it was the French side’s responsibility to submit their registration details first but they failed to do this.

With a number of centre backs still at the club, Saliba’s chances of first team action are up in the air. He is yet to play a single minute of competitive football for the Gunners this season. There is a possibility he could be sent out on loan to a Championship side in London so that he is in close proximity to Arsenal as he looks to settle into life in England.

Brentford are thought to be an option for the central defender. The EFL window is open until October 16th and so there is sufficient time for a deal to be struck.

Saliba is a player who the Arsenal fans are extremely excited about and it is thought the club feel the best course of action is for him to get regular game time as he continues his development. He is considered one of the most exciting young central defenders in world football.
