Partey provides two assists in Ghana’s 5-1 win over Qatar

New Arsenal signing Thomas Partey set up two goals in Ghana’s 5-1 win over Qatar.

The 27 year old has been on international duty ever since putting pen to paper on a four year contract with the Gunners. He is expected at London Colney on Wednesday, according to Charles Watts of Goal.

The former Atletico midfielder signed for Arsenal from the Spanish club after the North London side triggered his £45 million release clause. Partey has been on Arsenal’s radar ever since he was on loan at Almeria in 2013. Former head coach Unai Emery was interested in signing him last summer but prioritised the arrival of a winger which led to the arrival of record signing Nicolas Pepe.

The Ghana international has scored ten goals in 27 appearances for his country. He plays in a more advanced position for Ghana than he did at Atletico Madrid. During his time with the Rojiblancos, he scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists in 188 appearances.

Partey is a versatile player and this will excite Mikel Arteta who has mentioned his interest in multifunctional players in the past. With Bukayo Saka, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Willian in the squad in addition to the Ghanaian midfielder, Arsenal have an abundance of versatility in the team.

Arsenal will likely officially unveil their new signing later this week.
