Partey says Arteta and Edu’s exciting plans convinced him to sign for Arsenal

Thomas Partey has said the exciting plans for the club presented to him by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu Gaspar convinced him to move to North London.

The Ghanaian midfielder was officially unveiled by Gunners earlier today. He said that he has followed the club since he was young and that the Invincibles team won many hearts in Ghana as they did all around the world. He talked about his admiration for Arsenal legends like Wright, Vieira, Henry, Pires and Bergkamp.

The North London side were linked with Partey throughout the summer transfer window but only completed the signing on deadline day. The player has revealed that he was unaware of the move until late into the last day of the window when his representative informed him that the Gunners intended on paying his £45 million release clause and completing the transfer.

The 27 year old said he is looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Premier League and helping Arsenal return to the top of the game. He will take part in training with the rest of the squad for the remainder of the week and while he admits it will take him some time to adjust to his new side’s style of play, he announced that he will be ready to play against Manchester City on Saturday if selected by Arteta.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder talked up his hopes of helping the Gunners win their first Premier League title since 2004. He believes that he can improve his game in a number of areas and is looking forward to doing so in North London.

Mikel Arteta will be licking his lips at the prospect of beefing up his midfield with the Ghana international and experimenting with different formations with the midfield powerhouse in the side.
