Super agent Joorabchian says Ozil’s situation at Arsenal is ‘pure stupidity’
|Kia Joorabchian, a super agent who has made a lot of news in recent months for his reported ties to members of Arsenal’s hierarchy, has branded Ozil’s situation at Arsenal as ‘pure stupidity’. He said this in an interview with Talksport.
Mesut Ozil was omitted from Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League squad earlier this week. The player put out a statement indicating his disappointment at being left out of the squad and said ‘loyalty is hard to come by nowadays’. The decision to freeze Ozil out of the team has generated an abundance of views from fans and football personalities.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s opening Europa League match against Rapid Vienna, Mikel Arteta said that his ‘conscience is very calm’ over his decision to leave the German playmaker out of the Arsenal squad. He said that it was a purely football decision and had nothing to do with the Arsenal number 10’s behaviour.
The Spaniard said he felt like he had failed because he wants the best version of Ozil at Arsenal and although he feels he has come close to achieving that in some moments, he has been unable to do it.
The latest to weigh in is Kia Joorabchian. He said neither party is successfully proving a point by doing what they are doing and that it is the job of the agent to fix problems and ensure that their players play even if that means a change of clubs. He also touched upon how Ozil no longer fits into this Arsenal team but that considering his pedigree, he should be playing football somewhere. He said:
“I don’t see any winners in this situation. Ozil is not teaching Arsenal a lesson by sitting out and not playing, and Arsenal are not teaching Ozil a lesson by omitting him from the Premier League squad. I don’t see who wins in a situation where you don’t find an agreement between each other.”
“It’s just pure stupidity. I think it’s the essential role of the agent not just to bring high transfers to clubs, but also where there’s a problem to fix it. I think that’s what the role and job title says.”
“There was a situation at Everton where Theo Walcott wasn’t going to get enough game time and so he moved to Southampton, because they were very proactive. The role of the agent in the case of Mesut is to ensure he plays.”
“He’s a big player, but he just doesn’t fit the Arsenal mould today. He has a lot of talent, he’s a World Cup winner, this is a player who should be playing somewhere right now.”
I just feel mikel arteta is mean, actually he has no clear excuse on this, that is being selfish…
