Dani Ceballos and Willian are yet to train ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League game against Leicester on Sunday.
The duo were absent from Arsenal’s squad in midweek when they got their Europa League campaign off to a winning start against Rapid Vienna. The Gunners fell behind after a poor piece of goalkeeping from Bernd Leno but managed to turn things around with goals from David Luiz and substitute Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gunners return to Premier League action this weekend as they get set to take on Brendan Rodgers’ side at the Emirates. Leicester were without Jamie Vardy last weekend due to a minor injury as they lost to Aston Villa but hope to have their talisman back for their game against Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta has said that it is still too early to comment on whether Ceballos and Willian will be ready to take part in the game this weekend as neither have trained with the Gunners so far this week. If Ceballos were to miss out, it is likely that Thomas Partey will make his first start in the Premier League alongside Granit Xhaka.
Nicolas Pepe could keep his place in the side if Willian is unable to recover in time for the game. The Ivorian has been underwhelming so far this season but did make a significant impact when he was brought on against Sheffield United right before the international break. Arteta will be hoping to see that kind of performance from the North London club’s record signing if he is in the starting lineup on Sunday.
