New signing Nikolaj Moller scores on his debut in Arsenal U-23’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City
|Arsenal’s new Swedish forward Nikolaj Moller scored on his debut in the Arsenal Under 23 side’s 4-1 defeat to their Manchester City counterparts.
The Gunners signed Moller from Swedish side Malmo ahead of the transfer deadline. The 18 year old spent most of his youth career in Sweden but also spent some time at Italian side Bologna’s academy before returning to Malmo ahead of a move to North London.
Steve Bould’s side took the lead through the Swede within the first six minutes of the game but soon found themselves down to ten men after their goalkeeper Karl Hein was sent off. The Gunners didn’t have a goalkeeper on the bench and were forced to bring on defender Taylor Foran who played in goal, according to Dan Critchlow of Daily Cannon. This was the youngster’s debut for the Gunners’ Under 23 side.
Despite Foran’s heroic efforts that saw him make a string of saves, the Citizens made their numerical advantage count and condemned Arsenal to a 4-1 defeat.
The club’s Under-23 side are currently bottom of group one and will need to improve results quickly to climb up the table. They are yet to win a league game in 2020 and Steve Bould will be looking to find a way to turn things around soon.
