Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang comments on Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez
|Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has given his take Emiliano Martinez ahead of the match against Aston Villa, as quoted on the club’s official website.
The Gunners will take on Villa at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
This will be the first time that Martinez will turn out against Arsenal, with the goalkeeper having left them for Premier League rivals Villa in the summer of 2020.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper played regularly for the Gunners in the final weeks of last season when Bernd Leno got injured, but once the German recovered at the start of the 2020-21 campaign, the Argentine was back to being the second choice between the posts.
Ahead of the match on Sunday, Arsenal striker Aubameyang has praised Martinez and has also shared the text message the Argentine has sent him.
Aubameyang told Arsenal’s official website: “He knows [the secrets], but I’ve got no worries about that. He knows a lot of things, but things can change on the day of the game.
“Emi is a great keeper and a great guy as well. It’s going to be funny to play against him. He sent me a message and said, ‘Hopefully you’re going to get a penalty and I’m going to save it.’ I said, ‘OK, be ready for the chip then!'”
Making a point at Arsenal
Martinez has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for Villa and has been playing well for Dean Smith’s side.
The Argentine will be looking to make a point at Arsenal with his performance and show that he could have been a regular for them.
Arsenal have a very good attacking unit, and the 28-year-old is likely to be kept busy over the course of the 90 minutes.
Yes is true that Emiliano Martinez is no longer an Arsenal player but not his fault and at the same time not the fault of Mikel Arteta he Martinez needs to be a first team player and arsenal have already good one in the person of Leno so for him to displace him he will stay and fight it out with Leno but arsenal wil raise the weekly wages more than what Aston Villa offered him because he deserve it at 28years and serving us for 10years so nothing is too much for him he even deserve a loyality fees i know Arsenal must have a clause to buy back before any club because goalkeepers became more good with age.
