Arsenal interested in signing Boateng on a free transfer next summer

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng on a free transfer next summer, according to Christian Falk of German media outlet Bild.
The German central defender’s contract with the Bundesliga champions is set to expire at the end of the season and the club have no plans to extend his stay in Munich. He has made nine appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season and has started six of their seven Bundesliga games.

Boateng joined Bayern Munich from Manchester City in 2011. Since signing for the Bavarian giants, he has scored nine goals and provided 24 assists in 333 appearances. He has won eight Bundesliga titles, five German cups and two Champions League titles. He was a part of the German national team that won the World Cup in 2014.
The 32 year old is likely to command high wages especially considering the fact that he will be available for free next summer. He has been linked with a move to the Premier League for many years but it looks like a return is increasingly likely in 2021.
David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis will all be out of contract next summer and if the Gunners lose all three players, they could very well be in the market for a central defender.
