Saka declared man of the match for performance in England’s 3-0 victory over Ireland

Bukayo Saka was named man of the match for his performance in England’s 3-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland.

The 19 year old played the full 90 minutes as the Three Lions won easily courtesy of goals from Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Everton striker scored a penalty that was won by Saka.

Arsenal’s academy graduate won his second England cap against Ireland after making his debut against Wales in the previous international break. He was a constant presence in Gareth Southgate’s side and is sure to have made a case for his inclusion in England’s upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Belgium and Iceland.

Saka has been one of the Gunners’ most impressive performers this season and has provided more assists than any other Arsenal player since the start of the last campaign.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, another Arsenal academy graduate, came off the bench in the 61st minute. He was lively on the pitch and linked up nicely with Mason Mount in particular. This was the 23 year old’s fourth appearance for the Three Lions.

Jude Bellingham came off the bench to make his England debut, becoming the third youngest player to play for the senior side after Wayne Rooney and former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.
