Inter Milan are interested in sending Christian Eriksen to Arsenal in exchange for Granit Xhaka, according to Italian media outlet Corriere Dello Sport.
Eriksen joined the Italian side at the start of this year from Tottenham Hotspur for £17 million. It was thought that the Denmark international would add much needed creativity to Antonio Conte’s side. The 28 year old’s move to Inter has not worked out as well as he would have hoped. Conte does not seem to fancy a creative player like Eriksen in central midfield and has not used him as much as he was expected to.
This season, he has made just seven appearances in all competitions. He has only started four of those seven games. His future at Inter looks in jeopardy and it might suit both parties to move on in January.
Conte was keen on signing N’Golo Kante from Chelsea in the summer transfer window but this move did not materialise. It is believed that Xhaka would fit the requirement and could be pursued by the Italian side. The Switzerland international has been a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s team but since the arrival of Thomas Partey and the re-emergence of Mohamed Elneny, he has not been a regular in the team.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal would be willing to sell Xhaka and sign Eriksen but it looks like Inter Milan would be interested in pursuing a player swap.
