Arsenal reopen contract talks with Balogun

Arsenal have reopened talks with Folarin Balogun regarding a new contract, according to The Athletic via the Daily Mail

The 19 year old’s deal with the North London side is set to expire next summer and he will be free to talk to other clubs in January. It was reported that the Gunners were looking to sell Balogun last summer as they were unable to agree a new contract with him. Sheffield United had a £3 million bid for the player rejected and they refused to meet Arsenal’s £15 million valuation of the striker.

The Gunners also turned down a £5 million bid for Balogun’s services from Brentford in January. Southampton, Brighton and AC Milan are also believed to be interested in the player.

It is now being reported that the North London side will try to find an agreement with the New York-born centre forward to keep him at the club. Balogun is one of the most exciting young forwards in England and big things are expected from him. He made his first team debut for the Gunners in the Europa League game against Dundalk in October. He has travelled with the squad for the club’s upcoming Europa League tie against Norwegian side Molde.

Balogun has scored four goals and provided two assists in 11 appearances for the Arsenal Under-23 side this season. He scored ten goals and provided four assists in 16 appearances for the U23s last season. He has represented both England and the USA in youth football so far.
