Zidane contacts Szoboszlai in bid to lure him to Real Madrid
|Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has personally contacted Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai in a bid to lure him to the Spanish capital, according to German media outlet Bild.
The Spanish champions will face competition for his signature from a host of clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Red Bull Leipzig who have all shown an interest in the player. The Hungary international is believed to have a £22.6 million buyout clause. It is very likely that he will leave RB Salzburg in the January transfer window although an exit in the summer cannot be ruled out.
Szoboszlai has been a standout performer for the Austrian club, who in the last year have sold the likes of Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino. He has scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 17 appearances for RB Salzburg in all competitions. Since signing for the club in 2018, the 20 year old has scored 25 goals and provided 33 assists in 78 appearances.
The Gunners are prioritising the signing of a creative midfielder in the upcoming transfer window and have been linked with Szoboszlai for a long time. It will be interesting to see if they make a move for the highly rated midfielder next month.
