Norwich identifying potential replacements for Buendia

Norwich City are in the process of identifying replacements for Emiliano Buendia in the event that they receive bids for him in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The Canaries are understood to want a fee in the region of 25 million for their star midfielder. Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Arsenal and Aston Villa were reportedly interested in him over the summer. The Gunners are in dire need of a creative midfielder and have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old in recent weeks. The expectation is that the club will look to sign bring in reinforcements next month and a creative midfielder is their top priority.

This season, Buendia has scored five goals and provided six assists in 15 appearances for Norwich. He has played a crucial role in their strong start to the season which sees them at the top of the table in the Championship. The player is understood to be happy at Norwich but would be willing to leave if the club were to accept a bid for him. 

Buendia is one of a number of players Arsenal have been linked with in recent weeks. They are also reportedly interested in Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen as well as Lyon’s Houssem Aouar who they came close to signing last summer.
