Inter Milan are interested in exploring a deal that would see Christian Eriksen heading to Arsenal on loan in exchange for either Granit Xhaka or Dani Ceballos, according to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness.
The Italian side are looking to sell the Denmark international as he does not fit into manager Antonio Conte’s plans. This season, he has made 12 appearances in all competitions of which he has started just five times. Inter are aware of the fact that they will find it close to impossible to offload the 28-year-old permanently in January and as a result, they are willing to send him out on loan with an option to make the move permanent in the summer.
Eriksen’s agents are working tirelessly on securing his exit from Italy and he has been offered to Premier League sides. Arsenal are believed to be ‘thinking about him’. The Gunners are prioritising the signing of a creative midfielder and the Inter Milan midfielder would fit the bill.
Inter are understood to want either Xhaka or Ceballos as a ‘quid pro quo’ in any deal that would see the Dane move to the Emirates. This is not the first time Xhaka has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.
Ceballos moving to Inter on loan would be complicated as it would require the Gunners to cancel their loan agreement with Real Madrid, the Spaniard’s parent club. The Italian side would then be free to secure a loan deal for the Spanish midfielder. It is unclear if the North London side would be open to letting either of Xhaka or Ceballos leave the club in the middle of the season.
If Eriksen were to sign for the Gunners, it would be a very controversial signing considering he moved to Inter Milan from Tottenham Hotspur, their arch rivals.
