Arsenal defender Gabriel has tested positive for Covid-19.
The Brazilian defender missed the North London club’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea as he was isolating after coming in contact with a friend who had tested positive for the coronavirus.
At the time that the Gunners played Chelsea, he had not tested positive for the coronavirus but he has now returned a positive test and will continue his quarantine. The former Lille defender will miss the club’s next two games against Brighton and West Brom.
David Luiz and Willian, who were both unwell and missed the win over Chelsea as they were isolating, will return to full training on Thursday. As a result, they will not be involved in Tuesday’s Premier League game against Brighton at the AmEx Stadium but will be available for the North London side’s next league tie when they will travel to the Hawthorns.
Gabriel has been Arsenal’s best player this season and his absence from the side will be sorely felt. Gooners will be hoping that the Brazilian centre back makes a full recovery at the earliest so that he is back to being in good health and can return to the team as the North London side look to build some momentum after picking up their first Premier League win in almost two months.
